ING leaders Kathy Murphy, CEO of U.S. Wealth Management, and Tricia Conahan, Senior Vice President of Brand Marketing, are pleased to announce ING’s new partnership with the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO). On June 29, Murphy and Conahan brought the ING message, including news of a $100,000 charitable contribution, to nearly 1,000 key Hispanic leaders at the 26th annual NALEO Convention in Orlando, Florida.
On June 30, Kathy Murphy addressed a general session in which both Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama were also on the agenda.
“NALEO’s impressive leadership on school boards across the nation and ING’s commitment to supporting schools through both business and charitable efforts is a powerful combination, and makes for a great partnership,” explained Conahan.
A portion of ING’s $100,000 donation to NALEO will be used to raise awareness about kids’ fitness and childhood obesity among Latino children. Forty percent of Latino children between the ages of six and 11 are overweight — almost 15 percent higher than the national average. Through ING’s partnership with NALEO, the ING Run for Something Better program will expand into 13 new markets across the country.
“Investing in our kids means investing in the future of our community,” said Conahan. “With NALEO’s help, we want to give even more kids a healthy start in life by introducing them to the lifelong benefits of physical fitness.
